We can all be explorers. We can envision or imagine a picture or a story or experience new feelings, ideas and thoughts. We can all discover more about ourselves and the world around us. How do I get a vision? Well I start with an empty board, canvas, or large paper. Then I begin to choose my media. Will I use pens, pencils, paint, or mixed media. I prepare the surface and start to apply my first impressions or thoughts. This is kind of like doing abstract expressionism..what is that??? Abstract is generally not following the rules and it means to change the reality of what you see eg. a house, field, tree or pond into the mixed up reality that you envision. Things can be muddled up or another can be straight and

nothing is true to worldly colours and shapes. Curves and circles are appealing and sharp edges are startling and unfocused or shimmery blobs can be significant too. Let the layers start. With acrylics I can always change anything and go over it again and again. That is the fun because shapes and lookalikes appear from the board and they seem to speak to me as if from my unconscious. These efforts can be truly thrilling to me all it takes is to lift my hand apply my favorite colour and things appear like a vision I didn't know I had.
