I wanted to capture the death or are they dead?

How does it happen? How do the leaves die and then not really die? They fall to the ground and we rake them up or they lay there creating wonderful surprises. Their nutrients clothe the forest floor with essences for new growth. I love them.

Studies of leaves are very fun and can turn your drawing from awkward and unsure to earning a big gold star for your hard work.

Take a leaf of your choice, preferably a larger one and take 10 minutes to just look at it and turn it over and over to check out the veins. Copy them with a pencil or ink pen in black and white. Also note all the colours because they are not just green.
