I studied Art History. What is that? There are people out there that study one of the old masters, for example, and they take great pains to look at everything about the painting or work. I mean everything. They begin by getting the date the painting was done, the kind of colours artist used, the kind of paint they used, the subject, the brush strokes, the symbols hidden with in the subject and so on. So, today when we study the subject of Art History there are vast amounts of information catalogued in Libraries and Museums all over the World.
I loved these courses. If you read my previous Blog I talked about being so curious that such subjects as Arts History set me up to crave more knowledge.
I began reading and studying the religious paintings and discovered many secrets about each one. These painters, painted and created for the Church at the time. Let's say about 1500 CE.
I eventually realized that I could take a small part of this Iconology and use updated images and symbols in my work. I had ideas to make modern "Alter Pieces" by cutting 3/4 " plywood in the shape of 3 arches and them hooking them together with hinges.
Iconology plays a strong part in my idea book and driven once again by my curiosity I started to create art. I have adopted, incorporated and reflected ideas and concepts from the Renaissance Religious Art that I have seen and studied. This has become part of my adventure and Art

History started it all.
