Many people still use that old saying that "seeing is believing". Is that statement something you have faith in? When it comes to art, I think, it is an important thing to learn.
There are many ways humans can see. Seeing inwardly means to use your imagination, insight, inspiration and visions; these are terms to help explain inward "seeing".
Being observant with your outward seeing can be crucial to the Visual Artist.
Painting, drawing and colouring are possible because you see with your physical eyes and as you become more and more observant of shapes, colours, perspective and details you will create an inner catalogue of ideas. For example, if you want to put water in your work, what colour is the farthest edge? Or if you look at the horizon of the ocean, what colour is that? You have to draw or paint a line of some sort don't you? I have created my "inner catalogue" by watching the colours and shapes of things closely. My inner catalogue of colours, shapes, sizes, perspectives, shadows and lighting goes a long way to help me come up with all kinds of pictures to draw, paint, colour or process.
So, the more observant you are at seeing the things around you the better you will be at recalling elements to use in your work on paper or canvas. Try it........this is one of my lessons I teach and when in class we practice this technique.
But by all means...have fun...
P.S. If you want to try observation and memory practices t

his technique is a kind of study and it is really good for your brain...especially if you are feeling abit down or restless, this can turn into a type of meditation and it helps you love the earth, too. GH
